Why?

than a film that’s feather-light yet perfectly snug.

To deliver a high-performance ampoule mask
as if vacuum-sealed to the skin,
it had to adhere flawlessly —
settling in like a second skin,
without lifting, tugging, or discomfort.

Because true skincare
should feel powerful, yet weightless.

At first, we tested our mask using a standard thickness —
just like most others on the market.

But even with our rich, elastic Step 1 ampoule applied,
the mask started to slip and run,
making it hard to move around comfortably.

Worse yet, the thickness made it feel heavy on the skin,
causing discomfort and making long wear difficult.

At House of B, we took this mission seriously —
designing our film by the gram.

We received countless samples,
even as manufacturers told us:
"Changing the weight by 1g won’t make a difference."

Still, we insisted.
We needed to feel it for ourselves.

After dozens of sample tests,
we finally tried one that made us hesitate —
Is this too thin?

But the moment we applied it,
we knew.
That barely-there thickness gave us a second-skin adhesion
we had never felt before.

And it was perfect.

But just as we were about to celebrate —
just as we thought, “This is it” —
we hit a wall.

Tearing. 😢

The adhesion was incredible,
but the film was so delicate,
it tore too easily with even the slightest mishandling.

And so, the search for a solution began again.

Through months of collaboration and research
with our manufacturing partners,
we developed a new formula —
one that would reinforce the film’s strength
while maintaining its exceptional fit.

The result?
A film that’s resilient yet whisper-thin,
securely hugging the skin, without compromise.

Along the way, we gave our lab team and manufacturing partners
quite a hard time. 😅

(Ah— no wonder most brands just go with thicker masks.
Now it all made sense.)

There were moments we nearly gave up.
But after countless rounds of sampling,
we finally found it.
